Experience:
Frank was admitted to practice as a lawyer in Queensland in October 1989. He obtained his law degree at the University of Tasmania graduating in 1986 and moved to the Gold Coast where he undertook Articles.
He was employed as a solicitor on the Gold Coast for a period of thirteen years before moving to Brisbane in late 2002. During this period he successfully completed his Master of Laws at the University of Technology having divided his time between that institution and the University of Queensland.
Frank has had extensive experience in a number of areas of law including commercial litigation, personal injury work, criminal law, leasing, business sales and purchases, conveyancing, trusts, wills and estates.
Frank's work in the above fields includes:
- a number of cases for misleading & deceptive conduct both in the Supreme Court and the Federal Court of Australia
- extensive personal injury work including successfully finalizing cases which other firms had written off as unwinnable
- representing clients in Court for criminal matters, successfully defending clients in summary trials and also a Judge and Jury trial
- extensive leasing both for landlord and for tenants and negotiating clauses in the Lease that are fair to both sides and not one sided
- acting for sellers and purchasers of businesses and once again making certain that any prospective purchaser is well covered and undertakes the necessary due diligence steps prior to completing settlement
- acting for buyers of property and adding a large number of clauses to protect the buyers from loop holes in the standard REIQ Contract
- providing advice on asset protection particularly, when commencing business.
His present interest is in the field of commercial litigation particularly being involved in the beginning of a dispute before it reaches the Court stage or before the parties have taken steps that irrevocably alter the nature of their relationship with the other party.
He has found that early intervention allows for parties to heal splintered relationships rather than seeing them fractured entirely and the matter only being settled by recourse to the Courts.
Outside the legal arena Frank has numerous interests including reading, cycling, yoga and travel.
Frank has also given his time to various organizations on an Honorary basis and is presently the Honorary solicitor for the Gold Coast Croatia Club. He was formally the President of the Gold Coast Croatia Club as well as being on the committee for a number of years. He is also a former Vice Chairman of Gold Coast Soccer.
