Man Successfully Sues Google for Defamation for Search Results

Milorad (Michael) Trkulja was awarded $200,000 for defamation by Google for search results that appeared for his name.  He had been shot in the back in a restaurant in 2004 by an unknown gunman.  When his name was searched the images that appeared along side it were those of well known Melbourne gangland figures such as Tony Mokbel.   Mr Trkulja asked Google to rectify the situation in 2009 but Google did nothing.   Google failed in their defence of “innocent dissemination” because they were aware of the issue but failed to act.  Mr. Trkulja won a similar action against Yahoo!  The reasons for judgment are here.
