Are you eligible for the First Home Owners Grant?
When you buy or build your first home, you may be eligible for a $15,000 grant from the Queensland Government if the property is less than $750,000.
There is strict criteria which must be met before the Government will approve your grant. Generally, you must be:
• Buying or building your first property as a natural person, not as a company or a trust;
• An Australian citizen or a permanent resident of Australia;
• A first home buyer. This relates to you and your spouse (or whoever is named on the contract with you).
You must not have owned an interest in land in Australia (this includes investment houses). All applicants must occupy the home as their principal place of residence within one year of settlement taking place. Applications are made to the Office of State Revenue by completing an application form and providing evidence of your contract and other documentation as may be required. Stamp duty rebates are also available for people who buy or build their first home in Queensland. We can assist you by calculating this figure for you.
